Irmo’s memorial honoring first responders has been unveiled at Irmo Town Park.
“The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to the courage and dedication of our firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel,” the town’s Facebook post read. “We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event possible. From the unwavering support of our community members, the generosity of local businesses, the inspiring words of our speakers, the tireless efforts of our volunteers, and the presence of all attendees, your participation has created a lasting legacy that honors our heroes.”
On it, the name, James M. Muller, is engraved. Muller, according to former reporting from the Chronicle, was killed responding to what officials called a massive multi-alarm fire at the Tropical Ridge apartment complex in Columbia, which crews responded to on May 26, 2023.
