Posted

This round of Athlete of the Week honors goes to two players who continue adding accolades to their list of accomplishments, one on the gridiron and the other on the volleyball court.

Voting for Athlete of the Week runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday each week at lexingtonchronicle.com/athleteoftheweek.

AJ Brand

Irmo football quarterback AJ Brand was voted Athlete of the Week after a three-touchdown performance during Irmo’s 34-7 win on the road over James Island in the third round of the 4A state playoffs.

Brand helped put his team in its first state semifinal game since 2010. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 158 yards and rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns. He will look to carry this performance over into Irmo’s next game against defending champion South Florence.

Meredith McEnulty

Gilbert volleyball player Meredith McEnulty earned Athlete of the Week honors after competing in Saturday’s 1A/2A/3A North-South All-Star volleyball game.

McEnulty put up an impressive performance and was voted MVP of the game. She concluded her Gilbert volleyball career by accepting her 2023 All-State plaque after the game. McEnulty recently signed her national letter of intent to play volleyball at Charleston Southern.
