Lexington 2 Innovation Center Educator Named District's Teacher of the Year

Posted

One of Lexington County School District 2’s teachers has a new title.

Lexington 2 Innovation Center career and technology teacher Anne Reamer was recently named the district’s 2022-23 Teacher of the Year.

According to a release, Reamer was surprised by Superintendent Brenda Hafner, Innovation Center Director Joni Coleman and Assistant Director Bernie Adkins, and other district administrators in her classroom on Oct. 10 – and a round of applause from her students.

Reamer started her journey with District 2 in 2000 at Airport High School, later moving to a teaching position at AC Flora High School in Richland County School District 1, Gilbert High School in Lexington County School District 1, and Irmo High School in Lexington-Richland School District 5. Reamer ultimately returned to Airport in 2012, staying therefor five years before becoming a career and technology teacher – specializing in animation, motion graphics, and multimedia – at the Lexington Two Innovation Center in 2017.

The National Board Certified teacher is also an advisor for Lexx2be, Lex2be Multimedia Club, and Convergence Media. She is also an esports coach.

In the release, Reamer explains that her goal is to guide students to use their skills and wants them to be able to take things away from her class.

“My goal is to guide my students to use the skills they have attained in their academic pursuits in a practical, hands-on environment,” she is quoted. “I want my students to take away from my classes [the ability] to communicate person to person, the employability skills necessary to be successful in their careers and in life”.

Supporting her 20 years of teaching experience, Reamer has a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina master’s degree in education from Columbia College.

Reamer is an active member of many professional organizations such as the Journalism Education Association, Palmetto State Teachers Association, South Carolina Business Education Association, National Business Education Association, Association of Career and Technical Educators, Technology Student Association, and SkillsUSA.

“What makes Anne an outstanding educator is her commitment to her students and passion for teaching,”  Innovation Center Director Coleman is quoted. “She is always willing to go above and beyond for her students and our school.”
