Lexington County Announces Change to Early Voting Sites

Posted

Early voting in South Carolina starts in a little more than two weeks, and Lexington County has announced a slight change to its list of early voting sites.

Instead of using the Pelion Community Center, the county will now use the Pelion Branch Library as an early voting location.

“There was a scheduling conflict that now has been resolved,” Lanice Shoemaker, the county’s director of registration and elections, said in announcing the change.

The updated list of early voting sites in the county is:

  • County Voter Registration and Elections Office, 605 West Main St., Room 130, Lexington
  • Midlands Technical College (Batesburg-Leesville Campus), 423 College St., Batesburg-Leesville
  • Midlands Technical College (Harbison Campus), 7300 College St., Irmo
  • Pelion Branch Library, 206 Pine St., Pelion
  • West Columbia Community Center, 754 B. Ave., West Columbia

The sites will still be open Oct. 24-Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

This is the first general election in South Carolina to feature excuse-free early voting after Gov. Henry McMaster signed a bill allowing for it in May.

After featuring just one early voting site for the June primary election, Lexington County increased the number to five ahead of the upcoming election on Nov. 8.
