Lexington County Man Shot Outside His Home

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an incident in which a man was shot outside his home near Irmo.

According to posts on the department’s social media, the man was shot in the upper body at about 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 in the 5800 block of Wescott Road. He was taken to the hospital by EMS.

“Based on statements gathered at the scene, deputies believe this shooting was an isolated incident,” the department posted. "No additional details are available at this time."


The department encourages people with information on the shooting to share tips anonymously via phone (888-274-6372) or via the Midlands Crimestoppers mobile app.
