Lexington duo shines to claim Athlete of the Week

Posted

The spring sports season is nearing an end as teams around Lexington County conclude their regular seasons and prepare for the playoffs.

Many local athletes have elevated their game in these final few weeks as they try and push their teams across the finish line. This edition of Athlete of the Week winners both represent Lexington High School and put up significant numbers in their team’s wins.

Voting for Athlete of the Week runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday each week at lexingtonchronicle.com/athleteoftheweek. To submit a nominee for consideration, email a photo and short bio to sports@lexingtonchronicle.com.

Graham Coleman

Graham Coleman helped Lexington beat River Bluff in the third-place game of the Forest Acres Classic.

The sophomore went 2-2 from the plate for three RBIs. He crossed home plate twice after his teammates earned a base hit.

Coleman also contributed to Lexington’s other wins during the Forest Acres Classic. He hit a sacrifice fly in Lexington’s 8-3 win against Cardinal Newman. He also made plays in the field as the team’s starting second baseman.

The win over River Bluff was a nice momentum boost for the Wildcats as the team will play the Gators three more times this week. This time, first place in the region is on the line.

Bella Adler

Lexington lacrosse star Bella Adler had a big week as the Wildcats concluded their regular season with a pair of wins.

Adler scored three goals and an assist in a win against Riverside. She followed that performance with a four-goal outing against Evans. Adler led all players in scoring and earned her second four-goal game of the season during the win.

The senior has been a consistent contributor all year and will look to end her four-year varsity career on a high note as Lexington began its postseason journey this week.
