Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon reports the recent seizure of “a large quantity of drugs and more than $16,000 in cash” related to the arrest of a Lexington man.

According to a release, Nehemiah Jimmy Mayes, 28, was arrested last month and stands accused of trafficking meth and cocaine and distributing fentanyl.

“Agents arranged multiple controlled purchases of meth from Mayes,” Koon is quoted. “Those buys led to multiple search warrants at different locations as part of our work on the case.”

The release notes that community tips led agents to Mayes.

Along with the drugs and cash, two vehicles “connected to [Mayes’] drug enterprise” were seized, according to Koon.

“We’re glad to get these drugs off the street, which will likely save lives and limit Mayes’ ability to profit off the lives of people in our community,” the sheriff is quoted.

Mayers faces multiple charges, including “two meth trafficking offenses, trafficking cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic, which agents said was fentanyl,” the release states.
