The arrivial of high school basketball season means additional spotlight of some of the Palmetto State's top players.
Six Chronicle Country players are among those receiving recognition from the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association. They were included in the 2022-23 preseason awards list for Elite and Top Five Seniors.
Half the local players dominate the Elite Boys list. Guard Cam Scott of Lexington and guard Montravius White and forward Tre Maddox of defending Class 2A champion Gray Collegiate were named to the five-player list.
War Eagle center Avantae Parker was selected to the Top 5 Seniors' list for Class 2A. Center Brandon Crawford of Irmo was named to the Class 4A list.
Lexington center Lindsay Garner was the lone Chronicle Country female named to a SCBCA team. She was selected among the Top Five seniors.

The SCBCA will release its preseason Top 10 rankings Nov. 14, followed Nov. 16 by Media Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brookland-Cayce High School.
