The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College Blvd.) presents acclaimed violinist Regina Carter. Governor’s Cup Main Street Mile Run

Head down to Main St. in Columbia on Friday, April 12 for the Governor’s Cup Main Street Mile Run. Since 1973 this event has served two important purposes: First, it has provided the opportunity for South Carolina’s and the Southeast region’s top distance runners to compete in a race that meets the highest standards for competition and event management. Second, the Governor’s Cup has attracted thousands of participants who have used the event as a means of improving their health and fitness. The Movie Game (play)

The Ritz Theatre (1511 Main St.) and the Newberry Community Players present “The Movie Game” on Friday, April 12. The play is the story of Jack Goldberg, an unemployed cinephile, who has found himself in the midst of a pre-midlife crisis. In an attempt to shake the rut he is in, Jack agrees to see “the therapist to the stars,” Dr. Seuz, after his overbearing mother schedules an appointment for him. Seuz soon convinces Jack that, in order for him to move on with his life, he must undergo a radical type of therapy that forces Jack to play the leading man in his own romantic comedy.
