Another hotel data breach

Have you stayed at a Marriott International hotel recently? If so, you may be the victim of another data breach.
In February 2020 Marriott noticed unusual activity. Log ins by 2 franchise property employees had accessed too many guest records.
The credentials were compromised in January 2020. Marriott immediately disabled the stolen log ins. But up to 5.2 million guests had their information exposed.
Marriott says passwords, pins, payment info, passport and driver’s license numbers are safe but admits personal information – name, mailing and email address, phone number, employer, gender, and birthday day and month may have been accessed. 
The crooks might have viewed your loyalty account info, airline loyalty program info and hotel stay preferences.
Marriott sent emails on March 31 to notify guests involved in the breach.
The email would be from marriott@email-marriott.com.
Didn’t get an email, but want to be sure you’re safe? Marriott has a dedicated call center at 1-800-598-9655. It is for US and Canada residents and is available Monday-Friday, 8 to 8 pm EST.
Marriott says it’s providing optional personal information monitoring through IdentityWorks. The service is free for 1 year.
Marriott has temporarily disabled Marriott Bonvoy rewards program passwords. 
The next time you log in you’ll get prompted to change your password. You’ll also be prompted to enable multi-factor authentication. Multi-factor authentication is when you get a notification via phone, email, or another source when you access your account from a new device.
This helps prevent scammers from impersonating you, even with your password.
