Congaree Baptist calls new pastor

Posted

In my 70 plus years of attending church, I have experienced quite a few new pastors.
It is always been a time of happiness, hope and optimism for me.
Congaree Baptist church in West Columbia is experiencing that now after calling Jerry Freeman as their Senior Pastor.
Congaree Baptist is a 110 year old multi-generational church with a vibrant, congregation of believers.
Their goal is to be a  Lighthouse for the community they serve.
Plenty of committees are in place to guide and support their ministries.
They realize that even though they have served the community well in the past, there is so much more that can be done.
Their ministries include helping provide food for those in need through their food bank. And, they are actively involved in Congaree Kids Camp for local kids where CBC partners with churches.
Pastor Freeman is from Beaufort, SC, and he comes to Congaree with quite a bit of experience.
He’s been a camp leader while in college, and even learned Mandarin Chinese so he could serve as a Baptist International Mission Board lifestyle evangelist for 2 years.
While attending Columbia International University, he interned at a local Baptist church. There he met his wife Kimberly.
After graduating from CIU, he served as a College Minister, Minister of Senior Care and Administrative Pastor.
He and Kimberly now they have 2 children, Maddie, 10 and Hudson, 8.
Kimberly works for Lexington School District 1 and the kids attend District 1 schools.
They currently live in Lexington but will move to the church’s parsonage as soon as renovations are complete.
I have known Jerry and Kimberly for close to 20 years.
I believe Congaree Baptist Church will be in good hands for years to come.
