The painful truth about migraines

Posted

I’ve had many debilitating health issues. This is one of them.
I have always been able to work around the pain. That was until my body held me captive in a 4-day migraine.
I prayed to get better soon. I prayed for answers and quick healing.
I asked myself, “why is this happening?”
After speaking with many friends, I realized just how close it hit home.
Migraine triggers include hormonal changes, certain foods and drinks, stress and exercise.
Yoga is known to help.
So does keeping a food diary and activity log.
This helps your doctor with a treatment plan.
Foods that trigger migraines include eggs, tomatoes, onions, wheat (including pastas), citrus fruits, nitrites (found in foods), alcohol (especially red wine), caffeine, MSG, aspartame, chocolate, aged cheese and nuts.
Naproxen (Aleve) and Ibuprofen can be taken to manage pain.
Use an ice pack and sit in a dark room to help soothe a migraine.
To all who have battled and are still fighting, I applaud your strength.
