Try this healthy summer slaw

My mama Mimi made this slaw all the time because it is healthy. She would cut back on the sugar. So, experiment and add sugar to your own taste.
This slaw will keep a week or more if kept properly refrigerated. It is also a good dish for picnics because it contains no mayonnaise. You are sure to love this easy recipe that is perfect to accompany your hamburgers and hot dogs.

8-DAY SLAW

1    large head cabbage, shredded
1    large onion
1    large green pepper
1    cup sugar
1    cup vinegar
1    tsp. celery seed
1    tsp. dry mustard
1    Tbsp. salt
Shred cabbage into large bowl. Shred or slice onion and bell pepper over top of cabbage. Sprinkle sugar over all. DO NOT TOSS!
Combine other ingredients in sauce pan and bring to a boil. Pour, while hot, over cabbage, onion, and pepper. DO NOT STIR! Cover and refrigerate overnight. May be tossed when ready to serve.
