Use any fruit in this versatile cake

Oh my goodness. This is one of the most delicious apple cakes I have ever tasted. It’s not difficult, and it’s worth the time to bake it.
FRESH APPLE CAKE

1¼    cups corn oil
2    cups sugar
3    eggs, well beaten
3     cups fresh chopped apples(leave peel on)
1    cup chopped nuts
3    cups self-rising flour
2 tsp. vanilla extract
Mix together corn oil, sugar and eggs. Add rest of ingredients and pour into tube pan. Bake at 325º for 1½ hours.
Note: You can add 1 package of chopped dates and 1 can of coconut, if desired. You can also use any kind of fruit instead of apples.

For the glaze:
1    stick butter or margarine
1    cup brown sugar
1    tsp. vanilla extract
Bring ingredients to a boil for 1 minute and then pour over still warm cake.
