The West Columbia Riverwalk was the epicenter of the summer, Sunday.
A steady stream of tubers entered Riverwalk at the Amphitheater from the Congaree River after a cool float on a very hot day. Others were walking up to sign up to take a trip at the Palmetto Outdoor shed in the Riverwalk Park, parking lot.
Families stayed safely together, on and off the water, while others wore masks and practiced social distancing.
All of the new parking spaces added in the last year by the City of West Columbia were filled. That included the 22 new spaces on Alexander Road. The Carroway Children’s Park lot was filled, too. There were also several cars in the city’s Brookland parking garage at the corner of Court Avenue and State Street.
