What does your heart tell you?

Posted

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “listen to your heart.”
This advice isn’t just for relationships.
It can be for your health as well.
Frequent readers of my column will remember that I was diagnosed with tachycardia.
Tachycardia is a heart rhythm disorder where the heart beats faster than usual.
My cardiologist told me even though I have a high metabolism, I need to work out to help my tachycardia.
I took his advice seriously.
My goal this year is to get in my walking time every day.
Your heart requires a lot from you.
Try these tips to maintain a healthy heart:
• Attend yearly checkups.
• Get physical - even just walking 30 minutes a day.
• Quit smoking.
• Eat heart-healthy meals. Consider healthier alternatives to your favorite foods.
• Drink enough water.
• Keep cholesterol low.
• Maintain a healthy weight for your frame.
• Limit salt intake.
• Stay positive. Leave yourself motivating quotes.
As always, make sure to check with your physician before making any changes to your fitness routine and diet.
