Brookland-Cayce defeated crosstown rival Airport Thursday night at Airport by a score of 35-0.
Brookland-Cayce started the scoring when Benjamin Pugh ran in a touchdown from 3 yards out with 1:52 left in the first quarter. The extra point was good by John Allen Mower to give BC a 7-0 lead.
The Bearcats then went to the air.
With 3:22 left in the second quarter, Naahzeikiel Mays caught a 31-yard TD pass from BC QB Tanner Staton to make it 14-0 in favor of the Bearcats.
Later, Skylar King caught another TD pass from Staton late in the second quarter to make it 21-0.
With 1:56 left in the third quarter, Mays snagged a 10-yard pass from Staton. The extra point was good by Mower to give BC a 28-0 lead. That score came after the Bearcats converted on a fourth and 16.
Jayden Johnson picked an Airport pass with around 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Bearcats mounted a drive that ended with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Mays. Mower's kick was good again to give BC a 35-0 lead with 7:25 left in the game.
From that point, BC stopped the Eagles, got the ball back, and ran out the clock on its final possession.
BC has scored 86 unanswered points against Airport.
Airport, a 4-A team falls to 1-3 with the loss and travels to Midland Valley next week.
Brookland-Cayce, a 3-A power, is now 3-1 and plays at home next Friday for the first time this year versus Fox Creek.
