1 person was reported dead from a fire at a mobile home near Pelion late Thursday evening.
The death was reported at a residence in the 500 block of Tindal Road just before 11:30 pm.
Firefighters observed a fully-involved mobile home fire with heavy flames coming from the structure. They began an external fire attack and water-shuttle operations were established to ensure enough water was on scene to fight the fire. Firefighters then proceeded inside the home to continue extinguishing the fire.
After entering the home, firefighters discovered the deceased individual inside of the home. It is believed that the individual was the sole occupant of the home and no other injuries were reported.
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division officials and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigators are investigating the cause and origin of the fire, while the Lexington County Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased individual and release cause of death.
