SC covid-19 deaths appear to have dropped to less than a half dozen a day.

State health officials reported today only 5 covid-19 deaths in SC Saturday.

That was followed by 5 deaths …

5 SC deaths yesterday, none in our county

42 covid-19 cases in county, 82 in Richland County

SC covid-19 deaths appear to have dropped to less than a half dozen a day.

State health officials reported today only 5 covid-19 deaths in SC Saturday.

That was followed by 5 deaths Friday and 4 Thursday.

None of them were in Lexington or Richland counties.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control today announced:

- 42 new Lexington County cases, 82 in Richland County.. 

- 1,011 new confirmed cases and 7 new probable cases.

- 18 more confirmed deaths and 7 more probable deaths.

Of the 25 deaths reported today, they occurred as far back as July 27.

Only 5 of the deaths occured Saturday.

- Total confirmed cases to date were 99,713, probable cases 722, confirmed deaths 1,949 and 82 probable deaths.

- As of yesterday, 843,241 tests have been conducted in the state.

- 7,853 individual test results were reported to DHEC yesterday statewide not including antibody tests.

- Of those,12.9% were positive as infected.

That means 87.1% tested negative as virus free,.

- As of this morning, 2,269 inpatient beds are available and 8,157 are in use.

- Of the 8,157 inpatient beds used, 1,378 are occupied by covid-19 patients.

- Of 1,585 ventilators, 547 are in use and 219 of those are covid-19 patients.
