Congratulations to Logan Smith of Boy Scout Troop 518 in Red Bank. His Eagle project from this year was selected by the Chinquapin District of the BSA as their “Eagle Project of the Year” for 2018. Logan’s project involved working with a memory care unit at a local nursing home to make and distribute ‘fidget blankets’ to the residents, and bringing awareness to issues surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Thanks to the candidates for the open seat on the District One Board of Trustees for participating in last week’s candidate forum at White Knoll High School; and kudos to the school administration for tapping two students to moderate the discussion and questions. We have some tough choices to make in June because there are several running who would be excellent board members and serve our students, parents, teachers, and all taxpayers well,.

June and July are big months for Vacation Bible School programs at our local churches. They are great opportunities to get the kids out of the house and keep them from being bored that soon into vacation time, not to mention the biblical teachings they absorb while having fun. If you have information on your own church’s program please pass it along to me here, kevingoliver@gmail.com .

Happy Birthday this week to Lisa Hill, Starla Cook, Elizabeth Sox, Damon Padgett, Diane Brown, Gaven Baker, and Gay Hawkins.

Happy Anniversary this week to Kyle and Tara Craigo.
