Infection test results took a dramatiuc drop Saturday.

Health officials reported 15.6% tested positive as infected with covid-19.

That means 84.4% tested negative as not being infected.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control also reported 10 deaths in SC Saturday.

Among them were 2 elderly people – 1 each in Lexington and Richland counties.

DHEC reported Lexington County had 41 new confirmed cases and Richland County had 63.

DHEC announced the state had 1,170 new confirmed cases and 3 new probable cases.

They also reported 25 more confirmed deaths – 15 of them reported late – and 3 new probable deaths.

This brings the total confirmed cases to 80,856, probable cases to 343, confirmed deaths to 1,436, and 55 probable deaths.

As of Saturday, 700,464 tests have been conducted in the state.

7,490 individual test results were reported to DHEC Saturday statewide, not including antibody tests.

Since Wednesday, hospitals have actively been making a transition to a new federal reporting system for proving bed occupancy and other important information. DHEC is monitoring their efforts to transition to the new system.

At this time, the information provided by hospitals through the new system has inaccuracies.

Once DHEC verifies the information is accurate, it will provide daily data reports.
