In 2018, there were 291 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities in South Carolina and many more injured.
Each year, Mothers Against Drunk Driving South Carolina honors and remembers those who lost their lives, or were seriously injured, as the result of an impaired driving crash at its annual Hope and Remembrance Vigil.
It will be Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1:00 pm, in the State Museum's Congaree Room, 301 Gervais Street, Columbia, SC.
This unique event holds great importance to the victims and survivors that are supported by MADD as it provides an opportunity for many to come together to honor and remember their loved ones among other victims and survivors from around the state.
During the vigil, attendees can speak the name of those they are remembering/honoring and hang a heart with their loved ones name on it on our victim memorial tree.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson will be the keynote speaker.
Several children from families impacted by impaired driving will do parts of the ceremony.
