Chapin veterinarian Jessica Graham and the Street Dog Coalition plan a free pet clinic for homeless and low-income families Saturday 8 am to noon,
It will be in Chapin’s We Care Centerparking lot at 1801 Chapin Road.
The  clinic will offer free vaccinations, de-worming and parasite treatment, spay and neuter vouchers, exams, and pet food.
No appointment is necessary.

A practicing veterinarian in the Midlands for nearly a decade, Dr. Graham dreamed of hosting a free pet clinic for years. “I was just unsure where or even how to begin,” she said. However, after learning about Colorado-based The Street Dog Coalition at a veterinary conference in Denver last year, she knew her vision was about to become a reality.

Street Dog’s mission to fund free pet care for the nation’s homeless community inspired Graham to volunteer to help with one of the group’s street clinics. Attending the free clinic was “an eye-opener,” Graham said. It allowed her to see firsthand the generous service provided by the popular grassroots organization.

After returning home, Graham reached out to the group to help co-host a local Street Dog clinic here in the Midlands. She was excited when organizers eagerly offered to lend a paw. “They simply asked when and where we needed them. I told them, ‘Here’ and ‘Now!’” Graham laughed. As a result, South Carolina’s first “Street Dog Clinic” was born!

So many pets in this area are going to receive help thanks to Street Dog’s kindness,” Graham praised the group. If the event is successful, both Graham and the Coalition hope to co-host more pet-related opportunities in the near future.
