Lexington Medical Center confirms 4 positive cases of CVD-19 at Extended Care, its skilled Lexington nursing center.

The hospital did not identify if they are residents or caregivers.

Hospital spokesperson Jennifer Wilson said she cannot comment about the current conditions of the individuals who were diagnosed because of patient privacy laws.

Extended Care has been working closely with state health officials and received clear direction on protecting residents and staff from exposure, she said.

"We also have procedures and processes on our main campus, specifically in our Emergency department and our inpatient units to ensure employees are not at risk of exposure," she said.

"We assessed which Extended Care individuals were exposed. They were instructed to follow the recommendations of DHEC and the CDC.

"We continue to monitor everyone at Extended Care."

Extended Care has restricted visitation to protect its 353 residents and 480 staff members.

"The staff understands that loved ones and residents want to be able to communicate during this difficult time," she said.

"Staff members have been helpful in setting up Skype and FaceTime chats whenever requested."
