Pandemic forces visiting changes, procedures

Lexington Medical Center has had to change visitation policies due to the pandemic.
• No visitors allowed for any patients, covid, non-covid or testing positive.
• Visitors under age 18 are prohibited.
• In the Emergency Department, 1 visitor is allowed to accompany a non-covid patient being treated.
If the Emergency department lobby reaches capacity, the visitor must wait in his or her vehicle until the patient goes to an exam room.
The visitor must stay in the patient’s exam room at all times and may accompany the patient to his or her inpatient room if admitted.
The visitor can only stay in the patient's room for 1 to 2 hours to get the patient settled, talk with the nurse and provide information before leaving.
• In Obstetrics, a spouse or support person is permitted while the patient is in labor and after delivery on the Mother/Baby unit.
The person must remain with the patient throughout her stay and must not leave the hospital.
If the spouse or support person leaves, he or she will not be permitted to return.
• In the Special Care Nursery, the birth parent and her support person are allowed. They must have an infant identification bracelet.
• In Surgical/Procedural Areas (in-patient and out-patient) 1 visitor is permitted in the specified lobby during the patient’s surgery or procedure.
Visitors may help settle patients into their rooms if admitted. The visitor can only stay in the patient room for 1 to 2 hours to get the patient settled, talk with the nurse and provide information.
• All approved visitors must wear a face mask at all times and sign in and out at the Guest Services desk.
The South Entrance is closed. All approved visitors must use the Main Entrance off East Hospital Drive.
