The South Carolina Department of Transportation will slow down traffic speeds on a portion of Interstate 26 starting next Tuesday.

SCDOT will beging a 55 mph speed limit between mile marker 85 in Newberry and mile marker 91 in Chapin.

The new speed limit will last throughout the duration of construction, though DOT did not say how long it expects the interchange improvements to take.

This project is part of SCDOT’s Strategic 10-Year Plan.
