Lexington 1 agrees to $1.5 million land purchase

District will spend $47,000 per acre to relocate Lexington Middle School to Old Cherokee Rd.

Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees has agreed to a purchase price of $1,594,575 for the purchase of 23.57 acres of property known as TMS # 004300-04-016 and 10 acres of property known as TMS # 004300-04-075 located on Old Cherokee Road.

The land will be used to relocate Lexington Middle School. 

The board took action May 21 after the district received final appraisals and completed price negotiations.

The purchase is part of a voter-approved $365 million district 5-year building plan.
