Lexington Medical Center continued to report increases in COVID-19 hospitalization numbers this week.

As of Friday, the hospital reported 112 patients with the virus. 11 of these were vaccinated and boosted, 27 were vaccinated without a booster, and 74 were unvaccinated. 18 were in the ICU, none of which were vaccinated and boosted, six of which were vaccinated, 12 of which were unvaccinated.

“We continue to experience a surge in COVID-19 cases in our community and at our hospital,” the hospital writes in a post revealing its Jan. 11 numbers. “To protect yourself and others, we urge you to wear a mask, maintain social distance when possible, get vaccinated and get boosted when eligible.”

Reporting daily numbers Tuesday through Friday this week, the number of COVID-19 patients was 98 on Tuesday, 111 on Wednesday and Thursday. The Tuesday number of coronavirus patients in the ICU was 21.

Lexington Medical Center resumed regular reporting of COVID numbers last week after pausing the practice in October. On Jan. 6, the hospital had 80 coronavirus patients hospitalized, with 20 in the ICU. On Oct. 29, the last day the hospital reported numbers before pausing last fall, 17 people were hospitalized with COVID, with 10 in the ICU.

Last week, the hospital posted that it had seen an increase from about 20 COVID patients hospitalized to 80 within a few weeks.

The COVID-19 testing numbers Lexington Medical reported this week all showed daily totals for tests performed that exceeded 1,500 with a positive rate that never slipped below 44%. 1,729 tests were performed with a 44% positive rate on Thursday, 2,111 tests with a 48% positive rate on Wednesday, 1,616 tests with a 46% positive rate on Tuesday, and 1,586 tests with a 48% positive rate on Monday.

981 tests were administered on Jan. 5 with a positive rate of 43%.

As of Thursday, it had 628 coronavirus patients, 137 of which were vaccinated. 65 were ventilated, eight of which were vaccinated. The system, which also has a big presence in the Upstate, reported 587 COVID hospitalizations (61 ventilated) on Wednesday, up from 416 (33 ventilated) on Jan. 5.
