Celebrate with Editor Jerry Bellune

Good Friday morning to you.
This old geezer celebrated his birthday yesterday,
We did much of it remotely by email and phone.
Friends sent or called in their birthday wishes.
One asked if I got the pony I always wanted.
I replied it came with diapers and carrots.

One emailed a video of her 6-year-old daughter.
Her daughter played happy birthday on a tiny violin.
She played far better than I did at her age.

My grandfather saw me as the next Fritz Kreisler.
He hired our beautiful neighbor to teach me.
I was  hopeless and he eventually ended the misery.
But life has its share of compensations.
Her beautiful sister taught me to play the piano.

At a roadside stand my wife bought fresh vegetables.
She cooked a birthday dinner fit for royalty yesterday.
She graciously allowed me to wash the dishes.
I love it when she lets me do that.

Why do we celebrate each other’s birthdays?
None of us thankfully remember the event.
Our mothers did all of the work.
We just bawled our little lungs out.
We celebrate to show our affection and appreciation.
I hope you and yours have many happy birthdays.

Email me your favorite birthday memory.
Please send it to JerryBellune@yahoo.com

Send us photos of your kids at home, too.
Having fun the way only kids can.
Send photos to Rose.lexchron@gmail.com
