Pelion Middle, Lexington High students involved

3 more county middle school students have become involved in school violence incidents.
One of them, an 11-year-old Pelion Middle School student, was charged Friday with threatening to kill another student.
A 4th student was suspended from Lexington High School Monday after joking about having a weapon in his book bag, The State newspaper reported.
In Pelion, during dismissal Oct. 4, Middle School Assistant Principal Jessica Keisler stopped a fight between a 6th-grader and a 7th-grader, both male.
According to reports, the 12-year-old had put his hands around the neck of one of the suspect’s friends.
The suspect turned away from Keisler and said, “I’ll kill him,” speaking about the 12-year-old.
Lexington County Deputy Nesbitt interviewed the student at the school before releasing him to his parents.
His name will not be released as he’s a minor.
The student will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
He has been suspended while he waits for an expulsion hearing with the district’s hearing officer, according to a District 1 statement.
At Lexington High, a 15-year-old freshman was suspended Monday after joking about a weapon in his book bag.
He did not threaten another student or the school, according to a letter Principal Melissa Rawl sent to parents.
It’s not yet clear if the student will face charges as he awaits an expulsion hearing.
This incident follows 2 school threats last week, one at Carolina Springs Middle in District 1 and the other at Pine Ridge Middle in District 2.
According to incident reports:
• The 13-year-old Carolina Springs student was charged after he told another student Sept. 30 that he was going to “shoot up the school then shoot himself.”
• The 12-year-old student charged at Pine Ridge threatened in a social media post to bring a gun to school and use it against another student.
Both suspects were charged and released to their parents.
They will appear in a Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
