Need something to beat the heat?

Lexington Police can give you a box fan

Posted

With 90° temperatures, the Lexington Police Department offers free box fans for those in need.

Operation Cool Down has been ongoing for over 10 years and continues largely from the generosity of Lexington businesses and individuals with box fan donations, said Chief Terrence Green.

In-kind donation forms are available for donations through the Lexington Police Foundation.

The form includes a tax identification number for tax deductions.

Operation: Cool Down’assists over 100 individuals or families each year.

Donations are always needed.

If  in need of a box fan, come to the Lexington Police Department at 111 Maiden Lane during weekday business hours 8 am - 5 pm.

If you need transportation, a Community Action Team officer may be available to drop off a box fan to you at your home.

A release of liability form must be completed for all box fans.

Please contact Sgt. Cameron Mortenson of the Community Action Team with questions at 803-358-1504.
