Covid cases mount but deaths remain low

28 confirmed SC deaths and 1 probable death were reported Friday.

No Lexington County deaths were reported.

1 confirmed elderly Richland County death was reported.

The county with the most reported deaths Friday was Pickens with 4.

None appear to have been Clemson students.

Lexington and Richland County cases are rising.

Lexington had 223 new cases and Richland 327, the 2nd highest in SC.

Greenville County again had the most new cases with 623.

Spartanburg County had 273 cases and York County 209.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced:

  • Testing opportunities available statewide: 313

Percent positive (scdhec.gov/COVID19dashboard)

  • 14,060 new individual test results reported statewide (not including antibody tests)
  • 25.9% tested positive as infected.
  •  That means 74.1% tested negative as uninfected.
