Town of Lexington prepares for Hurricane Michael

Posted

Due to the pending arrival of Hurricane Michael, the Town of Lexington has rescheduled The Root Doctors concert from Thursday, October 11 to Thursday, October 18, from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Icehouse Amphitheater.

The County of Lexington has closed the landfill for tomorrow, so Solid Waste and Recycling Collection will be delayed by one day starting Thursday (i.e. Thursday collection picked up Friday, Friday collection picked up on Saturday, etc.).

Everyone should take precaution, and prepare your homes by securing loose objects, roll carts and recycling bins and/or bringing items inside.

Additionally, owners and operators of reservoirs should check their dams and take appropriate steps to safely lower the water levels today and through the next several days in preparation for potential problems caused by heavy rainfall from Hurricane Michael.
