They live too far away.

But they enjoyed a Thanksgiving Day dinner 24 hours early.

Some of Fort Jackson's 3,500 soldiers will not make it home for Thanksgiving.

They live too far away.

But they enjoyed a Thanksgiving Day dinner 24 hours early.

This year's menu includes: 5,028 lbs. of turkey; 3,290 lbs. of ham, 7,254 lbs. of Cornish hen; 1,130 lbs. of salmon fillets; 3,486 lbs. of carved beef; 780 lbs. of shrimp; 220 lbs. of chicken gizzards; 3,480 lbs. of green beans; 3,168 lbs. of collard greens; 13,824 cobs of corn; 1,764 lbs. of yellow squash; 3,838 lbs. of sweet potatoes; 5,480 lbs. of instant potato mix; 900 lbs. of gravy mix; 567 lbs. of stuffing mix; 1,278 lbs. of cornbread stuffing; 870 lbs. of cornbread mix; 22,950 assorted rolls; 94 lbs. of cranberry sauce; 211 gallons of fresh cut fruit; 1,164 assorted pies; 382 assorted cakes; 468 assorted cheesecakes; 384 lbs. of fruit cakes, gumbo vegetable soup, candied yams, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, rotini pasta salad, pistachio salad, cranberry juice, skim milk, soy milk, coffee, hot tea, iced tea and fruit punch.
