Twin City News returning to print July 3

Local newspaper temporarily forced to cover community news online

Posted

We're pleased to report that the Twin City News will be back in print next week.

The Bruner family was forced to publish online only during the height of the pandemic,

The Batesburg-Leesville newspaper announced on Facebook that it is bringing its print edition back July 3.

The newspaper also announced the launch of an online radio station as a way to connect with readers and serve the community.

We appreciate the family's commitment to its community.

We were saddened when the Chapin Times and the Calhoun County weekly were forced to close.

A community without its own newspaper is at an disadvantage in several ways.

Without someone reporting on its local government, it may not know what public officials may be doing.

Local crime, school board actions and even good news is carried only by word of mouth or social media.

We are fortunate in Lexington County to be served by 10 locally owned online and print news operations.
