Robert Burress has a highly unusual job.
He's with SCDDSS emergency management.
He works before, during and after emergencies.
He helps those caught in hurricanes and tornadoes,
floods, fires and other natural disasters.
What he fears most are sudden earthquakes.
You can anticipate and prepare for storms.
Earthquakes come without warning and
South Carolina has minor ones frequently.
His job requires planning, execution and clean up.
He has to know where to evacuate storm victims,
to protect them, feed them, get them health care.
When it’s over, he helps with repair and recovery.
Be thankful for people like Robert Burress.
It’s a tough job but they willingly do it.
He says he has found his purpose in life.
Be thankful for others at SCDDSS and SCDHEC.
They work long hours for us during this pandemic.
We will get through this – with their help.
