A trio of Lexington School District 1 teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the SC High School League wrestling tournament.
Host teams River Bluff, Gilbert and Pelion all came away victorious. Meanwhile, Lexington suffered a close 37-30 road loss to Summerville and Brookland-Cayce fell at top seed Camden.
The day started with 2-time defending Lower State champion Gilbert rolling past Lake City 68-12. The Indians will remain at home Mondy to face fellow top-seed Aynor at 6 pm.
Down the road on Interstate 20, River Bluff began its quest for a 2nd state title. After falling behind early 10-0, the Gators roared back for a 40-16 win over Ashley Ridge.
They will now travel to top-seed Wando for a 4 pm match Monday.
Over in Pelion, the 2nd seed Panthers defeated Phillip Simmons 57-18 and will face 6th seed Cheraw Monday.
