"BLOWFISH" IN CHAPIN - Team to adopt Lexington County summer team's nickname, likeness

Posted

The Lexington County Blowfish are headed to Chapin.
That’s right. The Lexington County Blowfish have partnered with a Lexington County 10-U baseball team that will become the Chapin Blowfish. Led by Carlos Deuringer and other coaches, the team will practice twice a week and participate in tournaments sanctioned by the USSSA every other weekend.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to expand Blowfish baseball in Lexington County,” Blowfish co-owner Bill Shanahan stated. “The Blowfish brand is one that represents hard work, community outreach, and good sportsmanship. The Lexington County Blowfish are excited to root on the Chapin Blowfish on the field this Spring.”
The likeness will not be in name only. The Chapin Blowfish will wear jerseys that are nearly identical to the “big club.”
“The baseball experience that the Lexington County Blowfish already have in place with community activities and family-oriented baseball should make this season a special one for the kids, friends and family,” Deuringer said.
The Lexington County Blowfish frequently sign former Lexington County high school players each season. Gilbert, River Bluff, and Airport High School have all been represented in years past.
It will be interesting to see if one of these Chapin Blowfish eventually makes his way to Lexington County Baseball Stadium to play for the Blowfish again while in college.
Practices start Jan. 9th and will run every Tuesdays and Thursdays in Chapin. Tryouts will be held during these practices.
Please contact Deuringer at (803) 995.2100 to learn more about the team, the program, and the practice/tryouts' schedule.
In other Blowfish news, it's now down to the final 2 choices for the Olympic-theme jerseys the team will wear this summer as part of "Team Blowfish 2020".
