CAYCE ROUNDBALL CLASSIC (DAY 1) - Brookland-Cayce, Dutch Fork advance to semifinals

The opening day of the inaugural Cayce Roundball Classic saw host school Brookland-Cayce and Dutch Fork among the ranks of the semifinalists.
Both teams came away with lopsided victories in their respective American and National brackets. Each will face a Midlands team Friday for a berth in Saturday's finals:


AMERICAN BRACKET 
Brookland-Cayce 79, C.A. Johnson 50

The Bearcats jumped out to a 21-2 advantage and stretched their lead as many as 30 points in winning for the 8th time in the last 9 games.
Christian Ferguson led Brookland-Cayce with 16 points, followed by Aubrey Richardson with 13 and Jamari Kennerly with 11 for Brookland-Cayce. It will face A.C. Flora in an American bracket semifinal at 4 pm. 
The Falcons rolled past Fairfield Central 65-40. J.B. Moore had a team-high 17 points and Patrick Iriel added 12 to lead A.C. Flora in the opening round win. 
Michael Johnson had 15 points to lead the Hornets, who will face Fairfield-Central in an American bracket consolation game at 10 am. 


Conway 61, Bamberg-Ehrhardt 24 
Jamarcus Woodbury scored 18 points and Tonka Hemingway and Carlton Terry had 12 points each to lead the Tigers to the American bracket semifinal.


Lakeside 51, Hammond 45
Ty Brisco scored 17 of his team-high 20 points in the 2nd half and Chris Williams added 12 as the Panthers out of Evans, Ga. rallied to defeat the Highlanders.
They will face Conway at 5:30 pm in the 2nd American bracket semifinal. 
Tucker Toman had 17 points and Andre Wilson added 10 for Hammond, which will face Bamberg-Ehrhardt in the 1 pm consolation game. 


NATIONAL BRACKET
Dutch Fork 76, Gilbert 43

Houston Jones hit 3, 3-pointers in finishing with 11 points and Jarvis McClurkin and Jarvis Green had 8 points each to lead the Class 5A 2nd-ranked Silver Foxes to the National bracket semifinal.
They will face Lower Richland in the 7 pm semifinal contest. 
Jy Tolen led the Indians with 12 points and Darius Boyce had 10. Gilbert will face South Aiken in the 11:30 am consolation game.


Lower Richland 72, South Aiken 50 
Korey Richarson scored 18 points and 3 players - Anthony Huff, Dishon Kinney and Quenton Flood  - each finished with 10 point as the Diamond Hornets advanced to the National bracket semfinal. 
They will face Dutch Fork in the 7 pm semifinal contest. 


Fleming Island 62, Lugoff-Elgin 49
Westwood 59, Westside 58

Fleming Island will face Westwood in the 8:30 pm National bracket semifinal. 
Westside will face Lugoff-Elgin in the 2:30 pm consolation game.
