Posted

Thursday was a night for clinching region titles and making program history for three Chronicle Country teams.
The Chapin girls' lacrosse team finished its 1st ever undefeated regular season on the road. Back at home, the Chapin baseball team earned the Region 5-5A title in their first season in Class 5A. Finally in Lexington, nationally-ranked Dutch Fork boys' soccer also claimed a Region 5-5A title by avenging its lone region loss.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Chapin 28, Irmo 0
The S.C. High School League girls' lacrosse championships will take place April 26 at W.C. Hawkins Stadium.
It's a place the Lady Eagles are determined to make a return visit after ending the program's first undefeated regular season with a resounding win there.
Senior Jordan Green, Grace McClure and Sadie Salazar led Chapin (12-0, 4-0) with 3 goals each. Green also assisted on 6 goals, followed by Eden Ellison with 4.
The victory also clinched the top seed out of Region 5, District 3 for the Lady Eagles.
"It's super-exciting to be 12-0, a perfect season so far," head coach Jennifer Green said. "We're hoping to make it really far in the playoffs."
The Lady Eagles have finished state runner-up the past 2 seasons in Class 4A. Now in the Palmetto State's highest classification, the younger Green wants to make the 3rd time the charm in the final.
"So much, I can't even sleep most nights," she said about wanting to win a state title. "Every girl wants this so much."
Based on the playoff brackets, Chapin will open April 16 at home against the 5th place team out of Region 5, District 3. Irmo and River Bluff are tied with 1 match remaining.

Another solid starting pitching performance helped Chapin overcome its quiet bats and claim a region title in the process.

With 2 outs and Jarrett Whitley on 2nd base, Veach hit a groundball towards shortstop that was misplayed for an error. This allowed Whitley to race all the way home for the lead.
In the top 7th, Lexington capitalized off a Chapin error to put the tying run on base. However, Veach got Chase Lemacks to hit into a game-ending double play.
Chapin (12-7, 9-3) will travel to Lugoff-Elgin Monday to start a home-at-home series. Lexington (10-9, 4-5) opens a 3-game series against archrival River Bluff in The Swamp.
