A pair of teams led by Lexington High School alumnus occupy the top 2 spots in the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association's Class 5A boys poll.
Three-time defending state champion Dorman, coached by Thomas Ryan, remain in the top spot as it heads into the Chick-Fil-A tournament starting Thursday at Richland Northeast High School. Moving up 2 places to number 2 is Dutch Fork, coached by Brett Jones.
The Silver Foxes improved to 7-1 Wednesday with a 62-53 win over Lugoff-Elgin. They return to action Dec. 26 against Gilbert.
Irmo and River Bluff, also coached by a Wildcat alumnus in Benjamin Lee, are 4th and 6th, respectively, in Class 5A.
Meanwhile, the Gray Collegiate boys' basketball team stayed in the top spot following a 79-49 win over sister school and 2nd ranked Oceanside Collegiate. The War Eagles will also compete in the Chick-Fil-A Classic on Thursday against Greensboro Day.
In the girls' rankings, Irmo remains the lone Chronicle Country Class 5A school in the poll at 7th. Despite Tuesday's loss to Oceanside Collegiate, Gray Collegiate remains at 8th in Class 2A.
