More than just the football team's success has sprinkled upon the Dutch Fork boys' basketball team.
The increased roster depth from players transitioning from a 3rd straight championship run on the gridiron has helped sparked a turnaround on the hardwood. Friday's 37-31 home win over Spring Valley extended the Silver Foxes' winning streak to 7 games. 
"We were 3-4 and we got football players back," Dutch Fork head coach Brett Jones said. "Once we got them back, we just needed to practice. 
"We've got more bodies now and our defense can pick up. We've got depth. We've got other players, so it's just more depth and stronger, bigger, faster."
Chase Raymond scored 10 points, including one of just 2 field goals scored in the fourth quarter by Dutch Fork (10-4). An 8-1 run by the Vikings cut the lead to 30-29 when Deonte Brown scored on a baseline layup with less than 3 minutes left. 
It was his only field goal of the contest. Raymond followed with a layup with 1:36 remaining and the Silver Foxes held Spring Valley to a free throw the rest of the way.
"We're going to make it dirty, muck it up," Jones said. "We're going to try to play with our defense first. We've got to get better offensively, but I'm proud of our guys. I think a lot of teams would have folded there after they made their run. We weren't making shots and turning the ball over, so I'm very proud of our effort. We've got a great group of guys. We've just got to take care of the ball better."
Dutch Fork opens Region 5-5A play Tuesday at home against Chapin. 
In girls' action, defending Class 5A champion River Bluff  52-41 to improve to 14-2 on the season.

Terrill Windom scored 16 points, J.T. Reeves had 14 and Andrew Robinson added 11 for the 7th ranked Gators on Friday.
It was the third straight win for River Bluff (13-2), which travels to Irmo Saturday. 

Irmo 45, Chapin 31
Buston Rivers scored 13 points and Trevez Caldwell added 11 for the Yellow Jackets in the Lexington Richland District 5 matchup.

Greeville 83, Gilbert 36
Ty Walker had 10 points in the loss for the Indians.

Se'Niya Brooks scored 15 points, Madison Dipoco had 10 and Jayla Lovett finished with 9 for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Kenyanna Morris scored 16 points and Taleah Tolen had 10 for the Lady Panthers.

Chastity Dent had 24 points for the Lady Indians.
