COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina is set to host its Fight For Literacy game on Tuesday against top-ranked Tennessee.

Tip time versus the Vols is set for 6:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. The event is in coordination with Coaching For Literacy and is sponsored by International Paper. Fight for Literacy games bring coaches, student-athletes and fans together for a common cause, ensuring America's children can read.

"In our country, 64 percent of fourth graders can't read at their grade level," South Carolina head coach Frank Martin said. "As a former teacher, reading and reading comprehension was, and continues to be, our greatest challenge. Coaching for Literacy is doing an unbelievable job highlighting the importance of reading at a young age, which helps develop minds and impact people in a positive way for life. We're really excited that we can be part of this initiative at South Carolina."

Martin and his staff will be wearing green ties and lapel pins as part of the Coaching for Literacy's initiative to raise awareness about the issues connected to illiteracy. Tennessee's coaching staff will also be participating on Tuesday night in the initiative.

100% of all funds raised will remain in South Carolina and will enable positive impact at local literacy partner Richland One (Columbia, SC) and Webber Elementary School (Eastover, SC). 

Coaching for Literacy has conducted 103 Fight for Literacy Games funding over 75 literacy projects across more than 20 communities in 16 states and directly impacting over 10,000 children. The mission of Coaching for Literacy is to use the power of sports to raise awareness about the problem of illiteracy and generate financial support for literacy programs nationwide.
