The best start in seven years continued Monday for the Gilbert High School volleyball team.
It only took three sets for the Lady Indians to defeat county rival Airport 25-17, 25-16 and 25-21.

The non-region win improved their overall record to 11-1 heading into Thursday's home showdown with defending Region 5-3A champion Strom Thurmond. It's the first of two straight meetings between the two teams and Gilbert is currently 3-0 in region play.
Hannah McDowell had 35 assist sets and five aces, Carlee Jones had nine kills, Courtney Price finished with eight kills and Emily Garris had seven kills for Gilbert.
"We have a young group with no seniors on this team and it's just everything is clicking," Gilbert head coach Jackie Shealy said. "We've got a lot of all-around players that are coming off the bench and they're willing to play different positions and they're working hard and they've set some goals for themselves. They're expecting a lot from their teammates and themselves. They are truly working to reach the stars."

MONDAY'S SCORE
Batesburg-Leesville 3, Saluda 1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-10, 25-19)
The Lady Panthers improved to 3-0 in Region 4-2A on Monday.
