HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL - River Bluff sweeps back-to-back home games

The River Bluff boys’ basketball team completed a home sweep of back-to-back games. 

The Gators rolled past Strom Thurmond 71-36 on Friday. Malachi Reeves had a team-high 20 points and Chase Powell finished with 11. 

On Saturday, the Gators downed South Aiken 60-49 as Reeves scored 14 points and Myles Jordan added 13 in the win. 

In girls’ action, River Bluff also pulled off 2 straight wins. The Lady Gators defeated Strom Thurmond 59-33 as they outscored the Lady Rebels 15-1 in the 3rd quarter. 

J.P. Wilson led River Bluff with 28 points and Reagan Rozier added 13. 

On Saturday, the Lady Gators defeated South Aiken 47-32. Wilson had 17 points and Rozier finished with 10, River Bluff also got significant offensive contributions from junior guard Niya Perry with 9 points and freshman guard Jaden Tucker with 8. 

Both teams close out the 3-game homestand Tuesday against Fort Mill.

FRIDAY’S GAMES

(BOYS)

Irmo 53, Lexington 48

C.J. Washington scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Dylan Williams added 12 as the Yellow Jackets rallied in the 2nd half to defeat the Wildcats on the road.

It was victory #765 for Irmo head coach Tim Whipple and the 1st contest since the 1980s not involving retired Lexington boys’ basketball coach Bailey Harris. 

Cam Scott had 13 points and Adin Daniels finished with 12 to lead Lexington (4-2). 

Irmo (4-1) travels to Newberry on Tuesday, while Lexington is at Aiken. 

(GIRLS) 

Irmo 50, Lexington 30

Maliyiah Mason posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Ehrial Wagstaff finished with 11 points to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets.
