The post-holiday season finds Midlands teams still prominent at the top of the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association rankings.

Defending state boys champions Ridge View, W.J. Keenan and Gray Collegiate remain number 1 in their respective classifications. In Class 5A, Irmo and Dutch Fork moved up a notch  while River Bluff dropped to 8th. 

Fresh off winning the National bracket at the inaugural Cayce Roundball Classic, Lower Richland boys moved up to 3rd in Class 4A. Region 4-4A rival and American bracket champion A.C. Flora remained in 5th place. 

Despite a 57-52 road loss to River Bluff, Irmo moved up 4 places to 3rd in Class 5A. The Yellow Jackets were 1 of just 5 girls’ basketball teams in the SCBCA rankings.
