MONDAY NIGHT SPRING SPORTS - Chronicle Country teams win Spring Break contests

Chronicle Country teams fared well in Spring Break tournament games which took place Monday.

SOFTBALL

Gilbert 8, Greece Arcadia 2

Leah Kearse went 4-4 with 3 RBI and Amaya Kearse was 2-3 as the Lady Indians improved to 2-0 at the Dishey/ESPN Wide World of Sports tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.

Madison Pride went 3-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored and picked up the victory on the mound for Gilbert.

A day earlier, Gilbert defeated Lynn Classical 3-1 as pitcher Savana Rosson fanned 14 to become the school’s career leader in strikeouts and belted a 3-run homer.

Lexington 4, McBee 3

Lexington 6, Clover 4

The Lady Wildcats went 2-0 on the first day of the Chiefs Beach Blast at North Myrtle Beach High School. They will face the host school Tuesday.

Saige Stanley had a 2-run double in the first game.

BASEBALL

River Bluff 8, St. James 6

Alex Urban homered and he, Jacob LeBron and Cameron Ferrell each had 2 hits for the Gators at the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach.

Will Lott earned his first win of the season as Clemson University commit Ricky Williams picked up the save. Up next for River Bluff (14-5) is an opponent to be determined for Tuesday.

Riverside 10, White Knoll 1

Tuesday’s final of the Sheppard Glass Invitational at Airport High School pits the host school versus Riverside at 11 a.m.

The 1:30 p.m. contest will pit Hough School versus HIllcrest, followed at 3 p.m. with White Knoll facing South Aiken.
