The rosters of Lexington Post 7 consists of players from Region 5-5A champion Lexington and two-time Class 5A Lower State champion River Bluff.
Nicknamed the SEC West of South Carolina high school baseball, the region was renowned for its nightly batles and resilient teams.
That resiliency came through Thursday as Post 7 rallied to force a deciding game in the Best-of-Five Series with Camden Post 17. Lexington defeated Camden 10-9 to even the series at 2-2.
Zack Smith's tie-breaking RBI single in the bottom 6th capped a rollercoster contest for Post 7. Camden jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings before Lexington tied the game in the bottom of the third.
Wildcat Cole Lemacks put Post 7 on the board with an RBI single. Fellow Lexington High player Ryan DeRienzo followed with a 2-run double and scored on teammate Chase Crouch's 2-run homer.
Lexington took the lead in the bottom when River Bluff graduate Walker McDowell cleared the bases with a grand slam home run.
Camden answered with a 4-run rally in the Top 5th to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth, McDowell hit a leadoff triple and scored on Smith's single.
Reliever Austin Muse pitched two scoreless innings to close out the win.
Game Five is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Legion Field in Columbia.
