Road to the SC High School League football state championships will have a familiar and different location this year.
Commissioner Jerome Singleton announced the 5 title games will take place Dec. 4-5. Charlie W. Johnson Stadium at Benedict College, which has held the Class A title games the past few years, will be the site of 3 games at 7:30 pm on Dec. 4 and 11:30 am and 7:30 pm on Dec. 5.
Harry Parone Stadium at Spring Valley High School will be the site of 2 games at 5 pm on Dec. 4 and 3:30 pm on Dec. 5. It replaces Williams-Brice Stadium as the University of South Carolina which was unavailable due to cost.
The league will announce at a later date where each classification will play its state finals.
All covid-19 safety and sanitation procedures in relation to fan attendance will be followed, Singleton said in the memo.
The SCHSL playoffs will begin Friday with 8 Chronicle Country teams. All game times are 7:30 pm:
Abbeville at Brookland-Cayce
Brookland-Cayce at Camden
Summerville at Dutch Fork
Phillip Simmons at Pelion
Lake City at Gilbert
St. Joseph’s vs. Gray Collegiate (at Midlands Sports Complex)
River Bluff at Fort Dorchester
Irmo at Westside
