A challenging non-region schedule has helped the River Bluff volleyball team in its quest to win the Region 5-5A title.
On Tuesday, the Lady Gators remained undefeated in region play following a 3-set win over Chapin. The scores were 25-9, 25-9, 25-15. 
Should River Bluff (25-7, 2-0) defeat White Knoll at home Thursday, it sets up a first-place showdown Tuesday with the team which has denied it the region title the past 2 years - archrival Lexington High School.
"We have a really solid team," head coach Bryan Piro said. "We're a lot more consistent this year. We've got a lot of good players who came back. We lost some good seniors, some quality seniors, but our underclassmen have really stepped up this year. We're relying a lot on sophomores and juniors this year and a couple of seniors. So, we're doing really well so far."
Following Thursday's matchup with the Lady Timberwolves, River Bluff will participate in the Wildcat Invitational at Lexington High School this weekend. 

Gilbert 3, Edisto 0 (25-5, 25-14, 25-11)
The Lady Indians (16-2, 3-0) had 38 kills and 15 serving aces to earn their 13th consecutive win in Region 5-5A. They play host to Pelion on Thursday. 

TUESDAY'S RESULTS
The Lexington High School junior varsity team defeated River Bluff in 3 sets to claim the Wildcat Invitational.
They play host to Chapin on Thursday.
